Motor Rewinding Service

If your motor has suddenly stopped working, smells burnt, is drawing excess current, or is continuously tripping, this could be due to an electrical fault in the motor windings.

How It Works

If the windings are faulty, we offer a comprehensive electric motor rewinding service, backed up by our reputation, efficiency and commitment to customer service. To minimise your machine downtime, our engineers are available to carry out the rewind immediately.

We are also able to increase the performance and extend the lifespan of your motor through upgrades or re-engineering, based on your requirements. Our commitment to quality ensures that the whole process is efficiently managed from start to finish, including full documentation of the rewind, providing you with the paperwork to keep your records up to date.

1)  INSPECTION & QUOTATION

Once we are in receipt of your electric motor, our team gets to work by carrying out tests on all parts of the motor, and then cleaning and preparing the stator before a comprehensive test of the core and associated parts.

2) REPAIR,
TEST
& REPORT

If a rewind is required, we strip the stator of the original windings. We then wind the required stator coils and carry out the rewind. After, the stator leads are insulated as needed, before impregnating the stator windings in resin. Following a thorough clean of the stator, we then complete the job by reassembling, testing and painting the motor.

3) WARRANTY & MAINTENANCE

Before the motor is returned, a thorough quality assurance process is undertaken and a report detailing the work undertaken is completed. As with all work undertaken by Alpha Electrics, the motor rewind and associated work is covered by our 1-year warranty.

Signs Your Motor Needs Rewinding

Depending on the nature of the windings fault, there are several signs to look out for. If your machine or motor itself has experienced a mechanical problem, it is likely that the windings have overloaded. The windings can also be considered as burnt due to the overload and the motor will not work, and you may notice a burning smell.

The age of the motor does not necessarily affect the motor windings, but the environment does. If your motor is in a cold or warm environment, rust or moisture will develop over time in the windings. This could cause the motor to continuously trip when trying to run, or even draw excess current.

If you are unsure about the condition of the motor and the windings, we strongly recommend having your motor tested by a qualified electrician, or you can send the motor to us for a free inspection.

Our Team

Our team’s rewind expertise extends to more sophisticated systems, such as oil and water-cooled motors, and work with a wide range of voltages and both soft and preformed coils, so whatever your requirement, we have the team for the job.

All rewinding work is undertaken by our highly experienced team of electrical engineers, which enables us to turn around the rewind as quickly as possible.

Not only is our state of the art workshop equipped with impregnation and burn-off facilities, but we can also manufacture any required replacement coils to your exact requirements on site.
